The World Famous Taupo Fishery…located in the Central North Island of New Zealand.

At the top end of our lake we have two beautiful streams not too far from the Taupo township. During the Summer months, large brown trout enter the Waitahanui, a cool spring fed stream. This can offer some exciting sight fishing opportunities. These trout can exceed 4kg with some over the 6kg mark.

From May to September the Hinimania stream offers the angler the chance to fish to unprecedented numbers of spawning rainbows. With a variety of water to choose from, 30 fish days are not uncommon with egg patterns being the fly of choice.

A bit further down the Lake, the Tauranga Taupo river offers some fantastic sight fishing and winter spawning runs of rainbows. Easy wading on flat shingle/pumice base and plenty of casting room makes this a go to for many anglers.

At the bottom end of Lake Taupo lies the township of Turangi and the World Famous Tongaririo River – which needs little introduction to anglers around the world… Large spawning runs of rainbows during the winter and spring months (May to September)  With large numbers of brown trout entering the river over the Summer months, making this a must do for many anglers.

Heli fishing over our Summer months can offer anglers the ultimate fly fishing experience in remote wilderness streams in the Central North Island.  Rivers sch as the Waiau, Ngaruroro, Mohaka and Rangitikei can offer the angler sight fishing to rainbow and brown trout in pristine untouched wilderness streams and rivers, making this a must do for the serious fly fisherman.
