We had an absolute ball and were only home 5 minutes before we were trying to sort out a date to come back again. Thanks for your guidance and patience - you certainly made the whole experience so much fun for us and we also loved meeting Lisa.
I am dreaming of the big one which got away….and probably will until I catch one! We both admitted that we had been casting in our sleep all last night.

This Brown took a size 14 parachute adams. This was David’s only fish for the day and was caught virtually on his last cast!!!

HALF DAY FLY FISHING:
Summer / Winter - Taupo Spawning Tributaries
A great introduction to fly fishing with a good chance of landing a trout. Pick up at your Taupo motel at 7.30am or 1pm. Drive to Waitahanui or Hatepe stream and fish for rainbow and brown trout. 4 ½ hours approx. All gear provided (rods, waders, tackle). Snacks and drinks included
HALF DAY FLY FISHING:
Oct to April - Back Country
Pushed for time but want to fish small remote streams. 40 minute drive. Rainbow and the odd brown. Good summer fishing, great dry fly with cicada patterns in the summer months. 7.30am pick up, 12pm approx return. All gear, snacks and drinks provided. Good level of fitness required, fast flowing / bolder river. Wading essential, better suited for fly fishers with some experience.
FULL DAY FLY FISHING:
Summer / Winter - Taupo Spawning Tributaries
Pick up 7.30am, Drive, walk, wade. All gear (rods, waders, tackle) provided. Snacks, lunch, drinks included. A great days fishing, particularly during our winter/spring months during spawning season when thousands of fish run up the spawning tributaries. Fishing egg patterns can produce some of the best fishing you are likely to ever have.
FULL DAY FLY FISHING:
Oct to April - Back Country
1 - 1½ hour drive through stunning rural NZ gets us to remote rivers, away from the busy Taupo tributaries. Rainbows and browns, breathtaking scenery and gin clear water makes for great sight casting. All gear, drinks, snacks and lunch provided. 7.30am pick up 5pm approx return.
QUAD BIKE ADVENTURE FLY FISHING:
Oct to April - Back Country
Access wilderness Wanganui river by quad bike. Rarely fished, remote and pristine, makes this a must do for the serious fly fisherman. A 40 minute quad bike ride through scenic bush clad trails is an adventure in itself. This is a full on day with a good level of fitness required. Large rainbows and browns. All gear, drinks, snacks and lunch provided. 7.30am pick up, 6pm approx return.

BOAT FISHING:
Summer / Winter
Lake Taupo offers many angling opportunities from fly fishing to sighted, cruising Rainbows, spinning, jigging and trolling. December to March large Browns congregate around the river mouths. Early morning is the best time to target these fish. Afternoon in the summer months can produce some great sport, casting cicada patterns to cruising Rainbows, while jigging deep water can produce some stunning fish.

Multi day packages are taylor made to your requirements. Could include Quad Bike Adventure fly fishing on the upper Wanganui River, raft fishing on the Mohaka, Heli fish the Rangitikei, drive, walk and wade remote back country rivers. Boat fishing Lake Taupo is a great way to relax after 2 - 3 days on the rivers. Private farm access available on some rivers. Accommodation is in river side cottages, huts or campsites. Luxury accommodation also available.

This Rainbow was cruising the shallows. We had lunch while watching him to decide on our plan of attack. A size 14 emerger did the trick.
