Backcountry rainbows

Mark with a pair of nice rainbow jacks with their spawning racing red strips on, myself with a solid jack and Mark hooked up with another nice rainbow. 2 days fishing backcountry rivers is always special and right now is a great to to be fishing as the fish are in good condition after feeding hard out over the summer getting ready for spawning. These fish can put up a good fight leaping around the pool and charging off down the rapids. Mark hooked into some solid browns as well only to be broken off. Too stong, not much you can do sometimes when they decide to charge off around rocks, the 6wgt rod bent in half making little difference to their determination to escape. We even had a large brown flat out feeding on the surface. We geared up a dry and dropper, the big fellow came charging over , grabbed the PT but unfortunatly we missed the strike.  We had 20 odd hook ups over the 2 days, landed some great fish, busted some off, fished some great water in stunning scenery in perfect weather. A great 2 days. Well done Mark, don't beat yourself up on the ones that got away, after all , it is fishing !!
