A job from Huka Lodge turned into a very casual day for myself and fellow guide Marcel. Tom,Bill and Joe .We picked these guys up from the lodge, packed lunch and seemed like a few bottles of wine in the pack as well. We took them down to the Tongariro, geared up, walked down to the pool. They did a bit of fishing and decided it was time to have a glass of wine. These guys weren't to worried about the fishing, their girlfriends being looked after my another 2 guides on another river ! They had a glass or 2, a bit more fishing we then shifted spots, another bottle open and Marcell down 2 the wine shop for another. They hatched a plan to fly back by helicopter so we gave the lodge a call. 2pm pickup and off they went. Not much of a guiding job but a lot of fun.
Peter Baird from Sydney, pictured sitting in the river contemplating how he got there and Briggs rolling his eyes. To be fair it was a tricky river for wading with little holes and cracks in the hard river bed. You have to look where you are going Peter !! We caught a few fish, big dry flies and nymphing both doing the trick ,busted a couple off and had a good time. Cheers Peter.
