Gavin and Olivia on the Tongariro

Gavin from South Africa in action on the Tongariro. Nymphing and wetlining the Tongariro today provided Gavin with some good action. We could see the rainbows cruising the pools and shallows , feeding occasionaly but not rising. Still a little early for the dry fly as the fish were firmly on the bottom.Gold bead PT, caddis and the gold bead green woolly bugger did the trick today. Gavin landed 4 rainbows and lost a few more. Good numbers of fish in the Tongariro at the moment and very few anglers , fantastic . Can't wait for the dry fly and paticuarly the cicadas to get into full swing. The water is clear, you can see fish 10ft down in the pools cruising around, just what you want to get you fired up ! In a few weeks hopefully we will see these fish rise to the dry fly
